5 steps which will guarantee your success

Boost your success with using your brain FOR you…

Boost your success with using your brain FOR you…

Do you face always excuses why you can’t achieve something? Like because of the kids, because you just can’t find time or don’t have energy left? So you don’t even set big goals anymore because you want to avoid the failure (which will for sure come)…

There is a list of goals, which are on your mind:

  •   Endless diets without real results and you even beat yourself up that you can’t be persistent, that nothing works for you

  • Decluttering your home which always gets more stuffed

  • Prioritizing your relationship

  • Spending more time with your hobby or finding a new hobby

These things just suck the energy out of you. They are constantly there in your mind, - that it would so nice..., I should....,- but you don’t commit, you don’t set them as real goals, you don’t schedule anything into your calendar.

 What should you do then?

Most importantly you need to learn how to manage your feelings.

What the heck am I referring to?

Here are the 5 things you need to do in order to increase the chances of your success:

I also show you what emotional management is needed for each step.

1.     Know exactly WHAT you want and WHY you want it. – There are a lot of feelings you can face at this stage. Your primitive brain will try to keep you where you are (because that’s its job) and want to prevent you to take any extra efforts. The most important is to let yourself dream big, and find a very convincing WHY. You can await feelings like doubt, „I’m not enough”, fear...

2.     Schedule everything into your calendar. – List all the smaller action items that are needed to achieve your goal and put every tiny item into your calendar. (if you want to loose weight put into the calendar every and each step when you will do those, like shopping fresh greens, getting ready for a jogging, jogging time...) Your brain will resist this activity. You will have thoughts that you don’t want to do it, that you can’t schedule anything with kids around, that you want spontaneity and flexibility. When you plan ahead, you use your prefrontal cortex, the part of your brain who wants the best for you longterm. Your only chance of achieving your goals is to use more of your prefrontal cortex and manage your primitive brain. Therefore there is no way around it, you need to schedule things ahead of time. You will need to handle the upcoming feelings like resistance, doubt, boredom, overwhelm and get to it anyway.

3.     Just DO it. When the time comes you won’t want to do the exact activity, but do them anyway. Just start by the tiniest little action item. Let’s get a paper and pen and plan your grocery list. Or take your pants and running shoes on... You will feel resistance and your primitive brain will offer so much more fun ideas. Your task is to stay in the game, respect your calendar and do it even if you don’t feel like it. You will be amazed how productive and successful you will become the more and more you practice this.

4.     If the results are not exactly what you waited for at the end of the given time, don’t give up and don’t beat yourself up. Don’t sink emotionally into the dispair, into the „ I won’t make it ever”, „it’s never working out for me”, „of course I fail”... But list all the things=facts you did or didn’t do. Then after looking at the facts come up with an adjusted plan just like a project manager.

Because eventually every failure is a learning curve, there is no ultimate failure unless you give up. If you do these steps over and over and you don’t give up, YOU WILL ACHIEVE any goal.

Here is the „bonus” additional one step at the end:

5.     +1. Schedule also free time and puffer time into your calendar, so you have time to recharge and also react on emergency if needed. You need to have energy and enthusiasm to follow through so bear in mind that you want to build a long term strategy not a sprint plan.

If you really want to achieve something and your WHY is coming from inside, it truly motivates you, then with these steps you can guarantee that you will do exactly the needed steps during the given time-frame, in a most focused way.

Don’t forget that it is you who are creating the rules and the time frame.

Don’t push yourself too hard, but stretch yourself out of your comfort zone.

I hope it helped. Let me know your thoughts!

The scheduling part needs a separate teaching and more coaching, so don’t beat yourself up if you struggle with that. Just try it out, play with it.

Let me know if I can help you, I would love to see how you begin to thrive.
