#30daychallenge and – The List to follow in order to achieve your goal
Do you have a goal in your mind but can’t commit to it? Do you want to achieve something but you have all the very real excuses why it’s not the right time...?
Do it anyway. Fail, it doesn’t matter.
What matters is that you tried and that you learned. That’s the only way of growing and upleveling your life.
Let me share my experience, failure, and outcome of the past challenge.
I shared the #30daychallenge on my Instagram and wanted to achieve 2 goals with it:
1, honoring my body, exercizing 10 mins every day to not have lower back pain
2, showing myself that I follow through 100% which I commit to
I had mixed thoughts about the timing, as we were just about to travel, visiting our family and I knew that in a different environment, with less control and with an overexcited toddler it will be bloody hard. But. I also knew that it can also be a trick of my primer brain who wants to keep me comfortable, so I decided to commit to it anyway and let’s see what happens.
I must say, the start was amazing. I finally had these 10 mins scheduled in my calendar, I did zumba, yoga, stretching, cardio, aerobic – everything at home with youtube videos. I truly enjoyed it, I felt my energy rising and also my mood was great as I was following through 100%.
Then we went to Hungary and life happened. I had some difficult days when I could only have the bare minimum, or only strecthing and some kegels. (nearing to third trimester, so that’s important).
I am neither a health coach, nor a fitness guru, so I’ll rather share the mindset drama around it so you know how our brains work and how to get the best out of it.
The result of the challenge:
I could tell you the story this way: I promoted a 30daychallenge, than I failed myself as I couldn’t even keep up with 10 mins workout everyday. That’s the fact. What I learned is that I shouldn’t commit to anything longer than a week as life happens and then I won’t be able to stay committed.
Or
I could tell you another story about the same situation: I promoted a 30 day challenge and I am very proud that even though the circumstances were not ideal I went all in. I skipped 8 times out of 30, but I did work out 22 times, I feel better in my lower back area. I am especially proud that I didn’t beat myself up for those 8 days but were rather compassionate with my pregnant body and rested when a crazy day ended rather than pushing myself too hard.
It’s about the same challenge, the same month.
That’s the power of your thoughts.
That’s the way you motivate yourself.
That’s the way you achieve extraordinary levels.
Beating yourself up will never create any positive results.
Loving yourself, and stretching yourself while you respect your own limits and bounderies, that will create amazing results in your life.
If you are wondering whether you should commit to something – stop worrying about it and do it. Commit. This is the way to grow and uplevel your life.
The other thing I also learned is that I’m still a perfectionist and I have to allow more buffer time in my days as life happens and I can’t control everything 100%. I teach my clients how to schedule their time, how to get the most out of it and I also teach them how to be realistic and schedule buffer time to be able to stay flexible and be prepared for emergencies. I also have to revise this lesson myself :)
So, to summerize the learnings and to inspire you to set goals and work towards your dreams, here is the list to follow if you want to achieve amazing goals:
1. Dream big, but stay realistic so you can truly believe in it
2. Commit to it. No second thoughts – it’s just a waste of time
3. Schedule the necessary actions in your calendar
4. Be realistic and expect hickups = use buffer time
5. Adjust. If something isn’t working, learn from it and adjust down the road
6. Stay focused on the long game and don’t push yourself too hard
7. If you don’t feel like it, just start with the smallest action – this is the way to beat your primer brain
8. If you skip or fail – go deep into the thoughts and into the feelings – what is the reason, are you happy with it or should you rather watch out more for the primer brain?
9. Don’t beat yourself up. Never. Be curious and compassionate.
10. Slow down, honor what you have already achieved and go back in the game, over and over again
Repeat with every goal you have. I always recommend to focus on one specific goal so you can truly use your resources and stay focused.
Ready? Go.
As per my recent challenge: I will continue to work out 3 times a week, scheduling it in my calendar, that’s realistic and not too hard. The most important is that we stretch ourselves, and we commit to new goals so we can become our best future version. Do you come with me?
